When most of us think of ceramic tiles in either our kitchen or bathroom, we think of plain white square tiles which don't exactly inspire us. Of course tiles are available in a variety of colours, but they don't come cheap and getting them professionally fitted only adds to the expense. So it's not surprising that many get cold feet and choose the safe, classic white tiles as opting for the bold blue or vibrant green tiles may not work as well as you'd hoped.
Seeing as ceramic tiles have been with us for many thousands of years, it may come as a surprise to some that ceramic bathroom tiles are a relatively new idea in the United Kingdom. I'm sure most of us have heard stories from their parents or grand parents about bathing in a tin bath in front of the fire in the sitting room, or having to make do with an outside privy in the bleak midwinter. It was during the late nineteenth century that a dedicated bathroom became a feature in homes of the middle and upper classes...
The real estate experts maintain that a good bathroom can add value to a home while a less hygienic bathing place will devalue a unit. Homeowners choose to use slabs on bathroom floors and walls for some reason and most of the times this reason is guided by beauty and not strength of the bathroom.
